Got a postcard from DNR today saying the white shrimp season has opened for the provisional trawling areas as of April 11 at 8:00 AM The area is aprox. 5Mi. off shore. That means there is a lot of egg laying shrimp out there and it should be a good season, last tear it didn’t open till the last of May!!
There was an article in the P&C yesterday about it. Havin a shrimp boil Saturday!
I also heard that that they will soon be opening up commercial shrimping closer in toward the shore. All bodes well for a good season!
Just talked to Carolina Seafood and she said her boats were tied up at the docks. Nothing there right now.

I’ve already started pre-shrimping… Set some poles and bait out yesterday and caught 2 coolers… I let them go into my freezer and will not eat them until season opens up.
You will know they are thick when the deep hole folks are stacked up in the harbor!

The shrimpers are getting them pretty good offshore. 1000 lb days from what I hear. Should be a good season.
