I know this probably isn’t in the right place but it seems like only a few forums get any traffic anymore (which is sad cause I used to love this place) Any recommendations on somewhere fun to pull the boat for a week, we’re out of Greenville, SC. Looking for something different to do as we have a family place in Hilton Head so fish there a ton. Regardless, that was the originally the plan but we realized our spring break is the same as the heritage this year so don’t want to mess with that. We are already doing Miarathon this June and December so don’t want another Keys trip. Plus we’re looking for something that is a shorter drive.
Thought maybe destin or something in the panhandle as we have a some family there. Looking for something with good fishing that time of year and decent weather plus we have 3 little ones under 8 so there needs to be stuff for the family to do other than the pool at the house.
Are the Cobia running out of North Carolina then? That could be a fun trip as we have never fished there. In-laws have a house in Ormond beach which is Daytona area. We have done disappearing island down there on the inter coastal but never done any fishing. Is the fishing good out of that area in April? How far is the run offshore from there if anyone knows.
Thoughts? And thanks everyone!
Daniel
Destin isn’t much shorter than driving to the keys. Towing a boat to Destin is going to take 10+ hours from Greenville. With that though, I love Destin. I was born and raised in the Destin/Pensacola area up until my teenage years when we moved to SC. I’d love to take my boat back there. Great fishing. You could always do the outterbanks. Not necessarily a great chance for good warmth but an option. Myrtle beach is a fun place to boat out of too. Personally I really like Jacksonville and taking the river into the city. Just a few closer drive suggestions for you. I’m like you, I have 2 scheduled keys trips a year as well. We stay in Key Largo, August and December/January

I’m assuming you Florida Boys have maps. Greenville to the keys is just about double the distance of Greenville to the Panhandle.
Danyelfell, let me know how you do if you go to destin, we’re heading that way in August.
Crystal river Florida area. Has everything you could want inshore fishing close offshore and diving for scallops. I lived right there in Inglis on the Whithlacoochee river for a short time.
