Looking at a 22-23ft CC purchase towards the end of the year. Looking at buying new around the 50-60k range. Any suggestions between Sea Hunts and Sportsman? Primary use will be family time in harbor with half a dozen trips offshore every year. Anyone have ideas on how comparable price wise they are? Any input helps. Thanks

I like the layout of the SeaHunt 234 Ultra w/ bench seat behind leaning post! Great all around family/fishing boat! SeaHunt also makes a 225 Ultra. Sportsman boats are solid as well, just depends on what you are looking for in the layout.

If I am not mistaken Sportsman is made by a group that was previously with Key West. They have some good looking boats…but they are fairly new to the market. Sea Hunt is a solid boat. Also a big fan of Pathfinder…you might have to dig a little deeper into your pocket for one of those.
I have a sea hunt bx22pro. it is a hybrid between deep v and bay boat. great boat/ extra large deck/roomy/cuts the waves like a dream. weighs around 2200# and has 56 gallon tank. i have a yamaha 150 four stroke. great on gas and we can move it above 45mph (plenty fast for me) good solid built boat done right here in columbia so any extras are easily available.
Thanks for the input. Def looking at the cc style instead of the bay boat style due to young children and the occasional offshore trip. Guess I’ll have to test drive a few.
Buy used and get a better quality boat. Someone had a a very nice 23 regulator for 60 not to long ago

Went through this exact same process two years ago, my choice came down to Sea Hunt BX22BR and the 22’ Sportsman. Both with the 150 four stroke Yamaha (which is a great match for these hulls). Chose the Sea Hunt even though it was a couple grand more, and have never regretted it. Both are nice boats and have talked with owners of the Sportsman that are thrilled with their decision.
The two factors that made me go with Sea Hunt are number of years they have been manufacturing a good quality boat and the dealer is within easy driving range. I did have some minor warranty issues which were quickly taken care of.
Would recommend you take the exact model out, with max. number of adults, and see how the boat rides at speed all the way to stopped. Also think about a top (fiberglass or fabric) to get some shade for the family. Will make the time on water much more enjoyable.
Good luck with the purchase.
SeaHunt Bx22BR
X2 on the Sea Hunt BX22BR. Got a 2014 with a 200 Yamaha and T-top. Used to keep it in Charleston—now outside Beaufort. Have often taken it to the jetties and occasionally to the Charleston 60 and into St. Helena Sound. Last weekend my son pulled his buddies on the tube in the Beaufort River in the morning, then ran from Beaufort to Edisto and back that afternoon. Very versatile boat.
IIRC all Sportsman boat prices already include the Simrad electronics. So keep that in mind when comparing prices (and if you don’t want/like simrad for whatever reason).
