.22 air rifle hunting

Okay so my friend has some property that we can hunt a his neighbor has given us permission to hunt his land. We are outside city limits and i know i could hunt squirrels and small stuff like that, but could I kill some larger stuff? I mean possums, raccoons, foxes, bobcats? Im pretty accurate with it. Its a Benjamin Titan GP. .22 Caliber air rifle and itll average out around 800 fps.

I just ordered a Benjamin model 397. WIll be in friday. 177 cal. Will use for small stuff like squirrels attacking my feeder & pecan tree.

Have had 2 Gamo’s & they SUCK!

Really? I always heard they were good guns. But Do you have any tips on what i could Make from the pelts of smaller stuff like groundhog rabbit and squirrel?

Don’t know what to tell you about pelts. If anything at all I would at least think it would need to be in winter when the fur would be thicker tho.

Look on page 2 for the Gamo Pellet gun topic.

Good luck!

You better hit em in the head at close range.

Thanks. I want to have the nice pelts but i dont want to irritate everyone who lives near him with a real firearm otherwise id use a .22
But i also dont want to be in the news as “the kid who got his face scratched off by a raccoon” haha but he has a pond with lots of tracks so thanks.

if irritating others with noise is a concern…do you have a bow? theres plenty of options for small game heads and you can definately hunt big game with boardheads. ive arrowed a few squirrels before and trust me hitting a squirrel with an arrow is MUCH more rewarding than with a .22!!! also if you can hit a squirrel a deer will be no problem

Ive thought about a bow but theyre all extremely expensivethe only one i have is a youth bow and i dont think its enough for an efficient, clean kill Especially not a deer haha. i think itd be worth a try though. Sound like a good time haha. Ive always thought the small game arowheads looked pretty cool.

what do you mean by youth bow…one of the cheap ones with rounded tip arrows that barely penetrate a foam target or a 45ish lb draw? if its a 45lb compound like kids back home have then a properly placed arrow with a sharp broadhead will drop a deer no problem, but obviously a cheapie with maybe a 20lb draw wont do anything lol. as for a .22 pellet, shot placement is the key. ive dropped massive groundhogs at over 100 yards with a .22 on the spot so closer range you should be fine vs a raccoon or fox assuming you place your shot right. if you decide to get a bow though…again its 100x more rewarding to take a bushytail with an arrow than a .22 or shotgun!

Blow darts are what I always use for squirrels, quite stealthy when you take it seriously.
