Just on here looking for a little input. My family currently has a Seahunt 196 with a 150, It is a great boat. We love it. But as it always seems to go with boats, we want to upgrade.
We want a fishing boat that is family oriented. We mostly use our boat now for nearshore fishing and the occasional sandbar sunday. Never anything too strenuous but our boat gets ran about once a week. We take great care of all of our boats, but we USE them. Meaning, if something could easily get broken, it WILL get broken. Ride quality and durability are what we put first in looking for a boat.
We dont want a cheap “bargain boat”, but we dont want to break the bank either. Some boats that have been standing out to us are the Sportsman open 232, the Seahunt triton 225, Seahunt ultra 229 & 234, and the cobia 237. I love the layout of the sportsman 232 the most, but have never ridden on one. We are Seahunt people but we dont want to overlook any other boats either.
Does anyone know anything or have experience with this 22’-23’ deep V range? Again, just on here looking for some extra input.

all those are boats that are going to do what you ask of them.
a few that you may also want to consider, would be the pioneer 22 and a Nautic star 23 legacy.
As the dealer for the Nauticstar, I am definitely biased, but you are going to be hard pressed to find a better boat for the money.

as an example, we just sold this boat fully rigged, hardtop, stereo, Simrad, full cushion package, bow table, etc… alumium trailer, Yamaha F200

Great looking boat. We looked at a few before we bought our Sea Hunt in 2013. The price is very competitive with both Sea Hunt and Sportsman, which are both local boats. Granted, Cobia is a Florida boat, they tend to hold their value fairly well. I also recently got the chance to drive the cobia 237 in rougher conditions and I was impressed.

The boat looks very comparable to the Sea Hunt 225, but a little pricier. I am interested, but I think my dad and I would like to ride on one first.

My 23 Ultra is for sale. Less than 300 hours on 250 Yamaha. Family friendly but also rigged for fishing. I just moved up to a 255 Ultra. Reasonably priced.

I went with the Pioneer 222 this year and love it. It’s feels a whole lot bigger than 22’. Lots of use with the kids, and handles well offshore. I went with the Islander over the sportfish, has more seating but still has two smaller live wells

I love that boat.

What motor are you running and how does it perform under a heavy load?

I’ve got the Suzuki 250, and if I did it again I would go with the 300. The 250 is fine but I am usually out with my wife and 5 young kids, lots of time with another family of 3 or 4…so we are pretty loaded down.
