Headed out from the dock at 5:00 with plans to hit Edisto again but with the choppy sea and wind direction we decided to head more east toward the 226 Hole. Once we hit 200ft we started seeing boats everywhere trying every depth up to 1100ft. We put the lines in and the action started after about 10 minutes once we found a decently formed weed line running north to south. After the first two mahi were in the boat we trolled for about 5 minutes and we heard Kent yell what the hell was that! Everyone is looking at the rods and I see a Mahi jumping in the distance. I look at all the rods and see nothing bent over and that’s when we realize that Joeys TLD 50 just got yanked out of the rod holder with assistance by the center rigger. After realizing what happened we decided to clear all the lines and regroup. As Diana is reeling in one of the 30 wides we notice that she is really struggling and Kent yells she has the 50 wide wrapped in her line. I quickly jump back and grab it, clear it from the line it was wrapped around and start reeling it in. Getting the gear back was awesome enough but ended up boating the mahi that was attached to the rod as well. After that we had a double hookup and then a triple with one gaff malfunction causing the loss of one. Put 8 gaffers in the boat after about 2.5 hrs and hit a little bottom to grab some BSB and grouper. No grouper but boated 11 keeper BSB and a red porgy. Awesome day on the water with the wife and great friends!!! I will try to upload photos soon.
