Some times people fish in the Bahamas for a week straight… Load the boat down with ice and it lasts the whole trip.

I’m going to be taking my 19’ skiff in a couple of weeks, with at least 400 pounds of ice:smiley:

I can’t count the times I made the trip in an 18 foot West Wind with an 85 hp Chrysler. All we had in those days was a K mart compas and a five channel CB. Of course I was much younger and indestructable.

HEY HEATHER
Sorry to make you answer questions about the dusky - didn’t think you would have to field questions about boat or argue about 600lbs of ice for a days fishing - guess they never heard a pound of ice for a pound of fish, anyway i’ve stepped into they world of technology to answer their questions (you should be very flattered)
PENFISHN
the boat is a 93 and the motor is 00 with 670 hours showing on the meter. (the key was on for long enough to drain the batteries when I bought the boat - I mistakenly left the key on once when I was doing some wiring for two days) so I doubt that there is 500 actual running hours on the motor. There are no service records, I have done all the work to the boat and it is meticulously maintained - it runs great and I am very confident with boat and motor. There are of course some cracks in the gelcoat here and there on the floor - everything works as I have crawled all over this boat and fixed replaced everything wether it needed it or not including new sub floor and bulkheads added two 28 gallon pony tanks under floor in front of batteries, any combination of tanks can be isolated should they somehow be compromised and there are two seperate fuel and filter systems. I have done everything possible to ensure this boat comes home. THIS IS A NO BULL**** FISHING BOAT READY TO GO
CAPTFUTZ - to answer the ice thing - I thought it would give everyone a good idea of size - I should have said it holds 600 BUD LITES - or 600 pieces of bait like the one you are holding - it does hold 500lbs of gilled and gutted wahoo - or four marker swords with room for odds and ends - we often fish two days two nites and the morning bite. To properly put away fish we usually need all the ice we can carry.
I WILL BE IN GLOUCESTER TUNA FISHING UNTIL MID NOVEMBER THE BOAT IS IN MCCLELLENVILLE AND SOMEONE IS AVAILABLE TO SHOW OR TEST DRIVE

Thanks for answering. No need to be rude. Personally want no part of a 3 day 2 night trip on a 23’ boat.
FYI my question was more about why someone would need 600lbs of ice FOR ONE DAY of fishing, you answered with a 3 day trip which I could understand. A typical day of “Going for the Gold” around here you would never need that much.

Gotta come home with gas money - enough fuel and ice you get it every time - if it costs me money to fish I consider it a failure. They should probably offer a counseling forum. - FISH CONTROL MY BRAIN

Capt’n Futz, it runs great. It is the only other 23 ft’er out there in the same class as the Dusky.
So eat my wake, sucker.
Actually… go fetch me some bait fish, like the ones in your avatar. I need to fill my 55 gallon livewell before the maiden voyage.
Thanks, Futz, you are a doll. ![]()

I’m holding up a decent 20"+ trout.
You are holding up a slot red.
Once again, you got me.
And for what its worth I would rather have my 24 Pathfinder then either of those 23’ boats in that class you speak of.

That red is over slot, Capt’n Futz.
And he could slaughter your 'lil sissy trout any day of the week.

My bote will hold far more than 600lbs. That won’t sell it to anyone except hardcore fishermen though. Fritz isn’t going to shovel that much ice or catch that many fish. Perhaps he is skerd… Unlike you, lsk.

But the asterisk above was because that tag line used to be cracker’s, and that’s what this thread turned into, figuratively speaking.
What is the dusky getting replaced with, and when can I go fishing with those guys? You can tell a real fisherman by his boat and gear…
