Looking at a offshore boat with a pair of 2007 ETEC 250s
The boat has been sitting for over a year- owner says they runs good and will seatrial this weekend
Whats is everyones opinion on these engines ?
What sort of maintenance would I need ?
had a etec was nothing but problems i will never own anything but yammies from now on

Take this seatrial.
I have had evinrude’s with problems and without problems.
Same with yamaha.
No matter the company, all engines have a chance of breaking at some point.
I’ve got a yammie right now and I am very happy, but I have been running rudes the past 2 years and the only problem I had was when we destroyed the lower unit in Punta Gorda, Fl, but that was user error.
Heard good things about the eTecs. Good fuel mileage and long time between scheduled maintenance.
