25hp start and die out

I have a 1990 25 johnson. I have rebuilt the carb had it running pretty good. While out with the father in law it will only start and then just die away, starving for gas. He held is hand over the intake and we managed to get back to the dock. Tore the carb down, cleaned some trash found a bad fuel line. Put it back together and it is still doing the same thing.
I am getting plenty of fuel to the float bowl, fuel pump is pumping plenty, plugs are wet when I pull them after it firing up and dieing a couple of times.
Please help stop fire arm violence against this little…

Thank you!

I’m having a similar problem, and ahve narrowed it down to ethanol gumming the lines or carb, see post on ethanol problem today, this forum, and see what Palmer posted about ethanol gas. Maybe you missed some sludge in the lines or the separator filter needs replacing.

Just a thought, be sure the plugs are all properly tightened. I do some repairs on lots of stuff, and have found ‘not fully seated’ plugs several times. Also, check very carefully the linkage(s) and that the fuel pump/filter(s) are cleaned out if you have not done so already.
Last idea, you may be able adjust the jets (low and/or high speed jets), and be sure you have unrestricted fuel flow to the engine. Best of luck
