2nd Place Wahoo @ HHH Wahoo Shootout Pics

Well we gave it our best shot as underdogs to beat Team Reelin in their own back yard. We felt our chances were pretty good with 53 of 56 boats who fished on Friday like we did already done, and only 3 boats including Team Reelin were going to fish the bad weather on Saturday. I told Marc of Team Reelin after he weighed his fish that he needed to go play the lottery. Awesome fish Marc and great tournament that you and John put together! We’re look forward to fishing it next year.

Our fish hit at 6:15am and had in her in the boat at 6:45am. We pondered whether to continue to fish. So we fished the area until 10:00am with a couple more runs, knock downs and boated two 12-14lb dolphin and headed for the hill. 60.7 lbs.

Wahoo is my favorite and you and others are killing me!! Congratz on the 2nd place!!

Congratulations! Tell us what you look for to catach wahoo like this. SSTemp, hump, ledge, live bottom, depth,??? We are rookies and this is an expensive hobby.
How do you post a picture on this site?

Catchin -

From my personal experience, I catch more big wahoo around ledges and live bottom rather than weed lines. I seem to catch smaller Hoo’s around floating debris and weed lines when I’m targeting dolphin. Personally I think big wahoo stick to ledges and bottom structure. We caught this fish on the ledge in 200-240’ in 71 degrees. We found a good temp break that went from 65 to 71 within .5 miles and it was right on top of the ledge. I typically fish for wahoo in 180’-400’. Again, this is just my personal experience.
