still camera-less…i’m workin on it…i hate givin reports minus pictures…i’ll try to make up for it with descriptiveness
hit my favorite sandflat for the early low right as the sun was coming up, no wind, but no fish either…i had been fishing this one massive school at this spot all through winter so it was a suprise to not see them there in perfect conditions
its a good thing though. looks like the recent warming trend has the fish starting to break out the groups… was able to find 2 smaller schools around 20-30 fish deep and was able to pick off one from each group (24" and 29")…the 2nd fish was tagged and i reported after the session…all fish were caught on pink and white salt water assasins rigged 1/8o texas style
would have been able to catch many more fish, but the fish were being super stealh, which was impressive given how the surface was oil glass till around 11am…no swirling tailing or anything, got lucky and saw little pushes which put me on to em…SUPER clear water out there, thought i was back in FL for a minute
saw a couple pops back in the creeks, so it looks like a few boys are startin to get into single mode, by they were short lived and not frequent at all
the fish are getting out of winter mode, but still not nearly as spread out and active to make for really good kayak sight fishing…but the good news is that they’re on their way
hope everyones been havin good luck out there, cameras comin soon
i went out again yesterday 3/13…calm winds all morning, warm temps had the fish movin around real good, in addition to the groups, i saw some finnin fish and a bunch of singles cruisin on super clear, wide sand flats…ended up with 7 fish on the day, one of the best sessions i’ve had in LONG time…did the round the world (catchin w/ everything i had in the bag)…i had em hit the pink and white glow SWAs, nearly dried up gulp shad, green w/ silver spec and new penny DOA swimbaits, gulp grab rigged on the circle…i’ll have a camera the next time im out believe that
saw a guy throwin a fly about a football field from where i was workin this one school…a dolphin was closin in on the school he was after, and that guy swear to god ran over to his skiff, grabbed his pushpole and started slappin at the water really close to where the dolphin was headin…i couldn’t believe this guy, noone likes flipper burnin up the groups, but jesus that guy had some balls, those dolphins woulda (shoulda?) tore him up (he was in the water when he was slappin)…i have no problem yeildin to the true anglers out there…anyways i didn’t see his rod bend once out there, and they were everywhere
