Summer Pattern this morning with Trout. On the water at 6am. light at 7, back by 8:30. I beat all the fishermen today.
Fished in-coming grass line with top dog jr black and chartreuse. Trout kept the action non stop. lots of boils blowups. No reds. All trout in 12-13 in range 10+ boils and 5 hook ups. Great to get some top water action again.
Mr Bald eagle stopped by to check on my progress. What a treat! I am always amazed to see this eagle.
Glad to hear you caught trout - and on top water. But I have an un-popular thought to express about the eagle. They are thieves and glorified vultures. I am sure they occaisionally take live prey themselves, but I have never seen one do it. They frequently soar and feed with vultures. I saw one drive five black vultures off a deer carcass yesterday. Many times I have watched them wait for a magnificent osprey to catch a live fish, only to steel it because the eagle is bigger. Ben Franklin was right; it shoulda been a turkey.

It is good to see the topwater bite getting going. I am planning to head out this coming weekend. That big tide this weekend scared me off, I reckon I was wrong on that one.
