Went out around the Stono Inlet and Folly River yesterday. Saw Red’s about everywhere I want. Had some good luck in Cinder Creek. Haven’t been there in a while. Small slots. Saw several groups of others catching as well. I was using cut mullet on the bottom but saw others using shrimp and artificials with success.
Went out today around the Limehouse area and fished by sight. Found a bank where I had never fished before at low tide and there was plenty of mullet and Red’s. I had a lot of takes but then they kept spitting the hook. 7 total takes without hooking up yet only one hook up (nice fat 25"). My theory is that anytime the gnats are bad and I use eucalyptus oil repellent then once it gets on my hand then of course it gets on the bait and I guess the reds don’t like it much either. I’ve started to notice that any time the Nets are bad. I will just try getting eaten the hell next time and see if it changes!

I’ve always heard deet is bad for fishing but haven’t heard the eucalyptus oil. I’ve also heard wd40 is a fishmagnet. Maybe keep a little on board to spray your hands with before baiting up.

Lmao… Well I’m going to spray the he’ll out of some mullet with wd40!
