300 blackout - discuss

For discussion sake, stamps and legality aside, if you were going to purchase a 300 blackout for light plinking and short work (-100 yards) raccoons, possums & pigs. What setup would you go with? The 1/8 twist rate of the WC is more appealing for subsonic loads and a brand I a familiar with. The AAC is something the gun shop is pushing and the Remington is a bolt action so it peaked my interest just because, but the barrel is a little long for the whole set up. Right now the WC 11.3 is at the top of the list.

I know some will differ, but Ive loved my Ford. I have almost four thousand miles on it and not a single problem. Nothing.

You don’t gain much ballistically going longer, so a twist rate to work with your bullet of choice would be the way my decision leaned.

I have a 12.5" AAC barrel in my side charging 300 upper. It was built to be run suppressed, and the 1:7 twist rate has seemed to do well with and without suppressor. With 220 grain subs it groups well suppressed.

I do wonder, though, about AAC quality now that they’ve been bought out by Remington. Their customer service has severely declined, parts are never in stock, and on and on.

If it were me, based on these things, I would go WC if you can afford it and don’t look back.

No need to spend Wilson money unless the 1:8 is essential for your purpose.
