Not me…but fish:wink: 31 for me was quite a few years ago.
Happy New Year everyone! Weve been fishing a couple times a week even throught the holiday and the snotty weather we had…but with all the hustle and bustle havent posted. So heres a year end…and first of the year report…and as always…a pictorial of sorts of some cool things I saw …but which probably shouldnt be included in the report.
Fished Monday to end the year…really pretty day…but the bite just wasnt there for us…slooowww . Traveled to a few new spots I had wanted to try…nada…fished grubs, trout trick, minnows ,shrimp and fiddlers…even the birds we saw looked really bored.:)…but at least we were out there.
Tuesday we started to just stay home and recoup from the holidays…but at 10:00 decided to go give it a try…you know tradition and all…they say what you are doing on the first you will do all year. Well I hoped to catcha few fish just in case!
The day was grey and overcast with a cold wind blowing in our faces…but I immediately couldnt help but notice just how green and clear the water looked! Really pretty! Hit a few docks for a few sheeps…then did a little bottom fishing for trout…slow bite but found a few. Then went to another place we had fished a while back and the bite was on! 31 reds betweent he two of us…had one small one at 10 inchs…the others were between 16-26. Hadf a blast! All caught on frozen shrimp cocktails…yep…a frozen piece of shrimp with a fiddla stuck on top like a olive …donnie laughed at me…but i swear…if we didnt have both they didnt take it! Was too funny. left them biting…and yes…we did catch a couple of the same ones twice( distinct spots). All were released. Would rather see them swim away than sit in the freezer. But if I was wanting dinner one would have definately come home with us. Left them feeding on 1/2 pint fiddlers I dumped as we left…hopefully a bribe to be there when we return next time!!
Saw soooo many birds today! I never get tired of
I found a new way to hook my fiddler!! Yours looks so vibrant with a hook in his shell! Mine tend to go limp… Beautiful photos! You make everything look enjoyable. I need to stop fishing like my life depends on it and just relax and take in some views. Sometimes when I get back from a trip on the water I forgot where I was! lol
Thanks Pen. Very interesting that you caught the same fish more than once. Not sure I’ve ever heard of that in the same sitting. On other days, yes.
I’ve said it before but “Poor dog”
The bass in the last pic I caught twice…see the little triangle mod body and double spots…opposite side had one spot only that looked like it had a flat side to it… So maybe I told a fish story…maybe we caught 30 and not 31 when it came to him
Guess his appetite was bigger than his brain:smiley:
How many of you can say you have a trained fish? Lol:wink:
Regardless…was a great day on the water, and a nice way to start the new year too!
. Dont laugh! Roo was warmer than I was! It’s funny…I pull that hoody face mask over her face and people think she’s a kid sitting in my lap…all of a sudden they’ll turn around and point when they realize its a dog!
we’ve been seeing tons of those…esp. up the stono river and in Mcclellanville. I always smile when i see them as they are my daddys favorite little bird. Theres one in the creeks at home that always hangs around a old dead tree…and every time we pass he looks for it there. last weekend was a real treat with the variety of birds we saw. Donnie thinks Im a tree hugger as I always get really excited about them. Have been seeing a lot of ospreys and hawks too. The ospreys were doing better at the fishing then we were on Monday
