32lbs redfish

I hope my guy is holding it properly. Fish hit a live toad fish rigged on a 12/0 hook on 200lb mono.

NICE!!! That’s a tank!

Bonus points for the hold. Lol!

Earn it everyday

Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet.

Toad fish? Didn’t think anything ate those things. I might need to try one, if it’s good enough for a red, it’s good enough for me.

Good rig, I downsized my hook but have gone up to 400 mono leader and seam to have better luck. Nice catch.

That guy got his money’s worth, nice fish!

Fritz, that’s a nice one. Happy client I’m sure. To the guy using 400 lb mono, what success are you having on the bigger sharks with that set up? Are you landing most of them?

I think the proper way is to hang it from a boga, no?

Capt. Fritz and PCB - What kind of knot are you using with mono that big and do you use fewer turns than you would use for the same knot with 30# or 50#? Thanks.

I can’t speak for them, but with mono that size I use crimps, not knots. It does look like a knot in the shark picture though.

Dang fine red too :sunglasses:

I’m with Cracker on that one. Kudos to you for being able to tie that knot. Solid catches by the way.

Very nice fish.

Now we know your secret shark bait is also good for spot tail!

I have never heard of a red eating a toad. very interesting fritz. Have you used them for bait before?

Toady tails have been on the menu for years.

I had a friend who was in Japan eating with a group of Japanese doctors and the meal was supposed to be top notch. He said the first thing they put in front of him was an entire toadfish sliced from head to tail into small sushi bites and he had to pretend to like it.
