Fishing and crapping:question:
Crapping ain’t a hobby…is it?
Those 3D printers do intrigue me.

They really are an incredible tool. We’ve got one of the big boys at work and we do lots of custom bracket designs for various projects. Rather than waiting on a metal vendor to except the design, understand it, provide a prototype, ship it, and then doing a physical test fit, we’ll run the CAD through the 3d printer, print it out in plastic and bolt that on for verification. All in house. It truly saves us a ton of time, effort, and money. I can only imagine what we can acheive the more sophisticated they become. Perhaps we’ll have a 3d aluminum printing machine in the future.

Clever work! Is it right or left hand, and are the drag washers easily replaced?
I’d be concerned about backlash on that roll holder. I’ve never had much success with open-face reels.

Me too! I wonder how many yards of “white braid” it’ll hold?
Read the instructions POD! That’s a T-Bone:smiley:
23 the architecture for 3D printing is advancing every year! The top speed two years ago was ~70mm/s. now it’s possible to do 110mm/s. Firmwre now has parameters for controlling head pressure in the extruder, advanced cooling to print plastic in mid air, and smart slicing software to improve detail. The hardware is also advancing and getting cheaper. All this has allowed me to increase my services for prototyping and the entrepreneurs love it! (To your point above)
This is open source stuff of course. I’m not sure about commercial 3D printers but I bet they are the same

Do you plan on mass producing this product? I can see a huge market in novelty stores, heck, even high end like Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
No. It’s not worth the time and effort. I do this just for fun. Having worked with customers doing injection molding, fabrication, etc I have a front row seat to the upfront cost. It’s crazy expensive!
