I’m seriously considering fishing this tournament. I’m looking for another boat to buddy up with. Hit me back if the only thing stopping you from fishing is not having another boat on your horizon that far out.
Tournaments do not allow buddy boat fishing for obvious reasons, read rules and regulations…
Rookies
So you can't have another boat fishing near you during a tournament? Sharing bait and equipment from boat to boat probably isn't allowed but what these people are wanting to do should be perfectly legal. If it isn't, it should be. SAFETY FIRST
And after reading the rules and regulations, as you suggested, buddy boat fishing isn’t even mentioned.
RULES:
Lines in 7am; Lines out 3pm – fish hooked up before 3pm must be called
in to be weighed – committee boats will be designated at the Captain’s
Meeting.
Scales open from 3pm-7pm
Boats may leave from any location, but all fish must be weighed at
Bohicket Marina. Fish may be brought by boat or by car.
Small Craft Advisory at 6am NOAA Inshore Report declares an ineligible
fishing day. Make up day will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016.
All fish must be caught from conventional rod and reel. J-Hooks or Circle
Hooks are allowed, as well as lures and artificial baits. There are no
limits on tackle. No electric reels, bandit reels, or “Green Sticking.”
In the event of a tie on weight, the first fish weighed in will take the
highest place.
Prizes will be based on individual fish weight, not aggregate weight.
A member from the boat must be present to weigh-in each fish.
Vessel cancellation must be called in by 8am on or before April 30, 2016
to be eligible for tournament refund. (843)768.1280
CASH PRIZES
1st Place $2,400 ~ 2nd Place $800 ~ 3rd Place $400

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.
I remember when another poser on this site was sure something was in a contract/rules and regulations, he did the same thing and claimed he was just trolling

Having friends somewhere on your horizon sounds ideal but just in case there will be a VHF channel/ channels recommended for use during the tournament.
Dolphin Slam started out for bragging rights and putting some bucks in your pocket. Something a bunch of our locals here at Bohicket Marina said we needed more of… simple tournaments, low entry fees, & good times at weigh in. It’s a “Keep It Simple” Tournament with less than 10 Rules…and it’s gonna stay that way. Anyone can enter & win…and if you fish offshore a $200 Entry Fee is like buying a few decent lures!
