3rd Annual Redfish Lollapalooza

Our two duck hunting buddies from Memphis came to Bennett’s Point to fly fish for reds on this last moon tide, which didn’t get anywhere near high enough (any thoughts? Mr Richard Baldwin was dumbfounded) the first two days and too windy the third.

We did manage to do pretty good on the trout, catching around 65 and most important keeping 11 for our fish fry.
The water around St Helena was dingy, as usual, from the higher tides and SW wind. Finding at least marginal water clarity was key. Fish were caught on or near main rivers using Gulp 3 inch Shrimp {New Penny}, DOA’s (Silver/Black) under popping cork, and TroutTricks. As noted, this is our third year, and while more wine was consumed (anesthesia for Carolina and Clemson’s performance) than fish caught, we still had a blast. Duck hunting and fishing are my two passions and I heard enough stories about both to last a lifetime.
