Left out of MI around 0530 and found a nice weedline just in from the break. Plenty of life on the patches but cold water and no takes. Continued toward the hole and had to dodge the other 472 center consoles zig-zaggin MacDougal’s ledge.
Found a fishy eddy in 380ft and picked up a nice cow, crossed back over and picked up a 30ish wahoo then began to work away from the ledge.
Cleared weeds off my long rigger line, then dropped back to put the bait back in position and the reel blew up in my hands. Boated a nice wahoo after a 30min fight.
Circled back and picked up two more dolphin.
Shortly there-after pulled back on the throttles to sink baits over some depth-marks and had a nice blue cruise into the spread, grab a purple/blue ilander on 80lb fluoro and proceed to tailwalk across the entire left side of the spread cutting 4 baits off in the process. Including the bait in the corner of its mouth, that ended up being a $150 30 second show. Reminded me of my college days…
Two more knock-downs that didn’t stick and that was the day. Worked a solid rip out deep convered in hammer heads and Portugese MOW’s. Had several Hammerheads crusie right up to the boat to check us out.
Very eventful day on the ocean. Ready to get back out.
