On the water by 4:30 and slow cruised out with 4 good buddys ready to catch some fish. We all felt pretty confident that the wahoo would be biting and HOPED that a few mahi would be around. We started in 200-215 ft near the Edisto Banks and 5 minutes after the lines were in we had a WAHOO ON! Had another wahoo hit a line 2 minutes before but didn’t hook up. Trolled for about 45 more minutes but nothing so we moved out to warmer waters. Right around 320-340 ft we noticed alot of commotion near some weeds and went to check it out. Large schools of dolphin (flipper type) were playing and feeding on bait fish and the weeds they were near formed a beautiful line. Very large patches and felt that if we were going to get some mahi this would be a great place to start. Ended up pulling in a 4 gaffers and a slinger but it slowed down quick once the wind picked up a little. We watched the most beautiful weedline dissipate and the fish did the same. Moved in to shallower water (around 80ft) after that to get some BSB and ended up getting 13 keepers in before heading back to the ramp. The seas were amazing and everyone had a blast.
