Took the new kayak out for its first fishing trip friday and saturday. I reckon I didn’t play the tides quite right - I tried to fish the rising tide and there wasn’t a whole lot of water to be found in most of the creeks. Caught one ray and lost a whole bunch of mudminnows to the crabs. Either way it was a lot of fun and it was great weather to be on the water…except for that d@#$ wind!!
Man, you aint fool’n…We went out Friday afternoon on the Folly and the wind was a whipp’n…Paddled down to the marina and turned around and let the wind carry us back. We stayed out 2 1/2 hours or so mess’n around, saw some decent sized fish but they werent bite’n anything. Was gonna go out Sat. & Sun but looked like it would be like it was Friday. Oh well, its only April and we got plenty of more months of decent yakk’n weather ahead…
Saw a lot of people out drinking beer, dont you people have jobs??? [:0]
Matt,
What kind of yak did you get? Do you go out fishing by yourself? We need to get a group of yakkers to meet at the landing sometime and do some fishing…
Ive seen several people kayaking but none were fishing…
I am always up for a fishing trip, as long as that ■■■■ work thing doesn’t get in the way. I can usually bring a Tarpon 120 angler if someone needs to borrow a boat. Lets get a group together and slay some fishies!!!

Sounds good DolphinD, where would you be coming from? Can you fish on weekends? Your other post says you have get a couple of weekdays off…I have the typical 7-4pm job, but can leave anytime as long as its atleast 80 degrees, sunny and little wind…
I live on James Island and work in Mt. Pleasant. Usually weekdays of, with about 2 or 3 saturdays or sundays off each month. I have had better luck lately in the Wando, but I am always up for trying different spots.

I got a Cobra Explorer and it is my first fishin kayak - so far it seems to work pretty well. I’d definitely be up for getting a group together. I don’t have anyone to fish with out of kayaks most of my buddies laugh and tell me they’ll stick to their boats with motors! I live in Goose Creek, but work is in Mount P. and the old lady lives in James Island so all of my fishing is down the JI/MP way but I am up for fishing where ever. Ya’ll drop me an email whtz7196@aol.com and we’ll get up and catch 'em. Tax season is over with so I can fish most any afternoon and definitely on the weekends.
I am in too. I just got promoted and am moving from Charlotte to Columbia, so I could make it whenever. Keep me posted. Just got a Wilderness Tarpon 140 and am dying to use it!!
I emailed DolphinD and Matt yesterday and looks like April 29 will work. Shall we say 9am @ the Folly landing? Im not sure if yall need your beauty sleep as I have never met any of yall.
Parking is tough @ Folly landing but maybe we could park 2 to a truck/trailer slip. I live close by and someone could also park at my crib and we could throw a couple in my truck.
Anyone have a better place to meet? with ample parking? Im not trying to take charge, just trying to hook-up with some of yall…Let us all know any thoughts or if you can/cant make it…
Edit - Im new at yak fishing but I think I have all I need to stay out for a while. I would feel better if I had a paddle leash and will buy one at the kayak festival this weekend (Friday)…
I’m up for the fishing trip on the 29th. I just got a ocean kayak prowler 13 a couple of months ago and I’ve been looking for some other people to go fishing with. I live in Mt Pleasant so I been fishing mostly out this way, but I’m willing to drive wherever to go fishing. I go out fishing most weekends so shoot me an email if anybody ever wants to do some fishing.
