4-17 evening stripers

Went out tonight fished last couple hours till dark and ended up staying with them biting till about 10. They ate all our baits, which Richard had some pretty bait today. We caught them on the lower end all the way to the rocks. pulling free lined planers. smallest was 16 inch. largest was 25.

I was just at the dam for lunch and the herring are all over the rocks spawning right now. There were also giang schools of bait right off the shore. I figure the striper should be there too but only saw a few bass. Although noon isn’t exactly prime striper time.

i figured the herring were just around the corner. they were bunching up pretty good last thursday around one of the towers. ran out of bait and was able to catch the big 8/10" baits on sabiki rig. can’t beat the noon bite in the summer time out in front of the towers, big baits at noon produced very good two years ago didn’t fish much last summer though.

They are on the rocks, I had planer boards running right along the dam and was catching fish. they seem scatter but its not long between hits, must just be scattered EVERYWHERE! We have had two good days and im taking some guys out today so we will see how we do. Never had luck with sabiki rig in fresh water. whats the secret?

The AQ. i will SCHOOL YOU SON!

ft worry.

I went after work yesterday and planned on catching my own bait. The bait was all gone, not one single shad or herring anywhere along the rocks. Went and bought bait. Got sick of fighting the wind and tied up to the towers. Caught tons of shorts all night. Had bait and striper in the hydroglow light and caught bait after running out. Caught some real nice herring, a few around 8". Fished till about 1AM.

Caught 5 deep(10’ to 15’) on flies late (6:30) yesterday. Huge school under the boat, but the bastards were picky(changed flies 3 times before they ate). 3 were around 23". Mid lake
