Well, the wind decided to blow again on my days off, so I tried to make the best of it. Called up Mr. Keys to see if he was interested in a little inshore action and he was ready. We had the boat wet at Bushy Park around 6:30am and opted to look around for some bait in the clear, 67 degree water. Found a few mullet, but loaded up on the 3-5" menhaden again. Away we went to the one area that seemed to have some trout hanging around last week. Sure enough, they were there but not quite the size as last week. We managed to work a 50-75yd sheepy looking stretch for about an hour an half that yielded only 2 trout keepers,8-10 12-13.5" trout, a limit on weakfish, and a 28" red. The wind was blowing hard on us by 9:30am and for whatever reason I opted to leave. Big mistake as we never found the fish after that, . The fish have been hitting the smaller suspending jerkbait for me. All of the fish are hitting on slack line as the bait is suspending, completely knocking slack into the line. Thanks Optiker for sharing honest information in your fishing report a few weeks ago. It’s helped me out a bunch. Make sure to allow the bait to pause and fish it patiently. Derek, we’ll work on that jerk bait cadence this fall,
