Went out south expecting the wind to pick up around 2pm and so we were hoping for a better ride home than if we went North to chase the better water. We fished 66 to 67.8 degree water all day and caught 1 wahoo early in 66 which was unexpected. The radio wasn’t very chatty for the number of boats out there so we suspect it was a slow day for most people out there. How did the rest of the fleet do? The ledge was very busy for a Monday.
Hit the shotgun rigged with a horse ballyhoo. Didn’t have my scale but we think 60 since it was heavier than the 50lb ones from last trip.
We were south at the ledge Jordan and had one knock down which broke off, in about 280 feet and 71 degrees. I did hear of one dolphin caught and bonito.
We were just south of the E-banks! Hooked up on the WTFB early, almost spooled the 30w, after about a 40min battle we got him boat side. It was a 60 pound hoo, he spit the hook just out of gaff reach! Ended the day with 2 kings, three Bonita, the head of a reef donkey and one 8 foot shark.
