Hit the incoming tide yesterday despite the rain and was rewarded for my efforts. Caught this guy before I cracked my first beverage. Probably the most epic fight I’ve had on the kayak. In and out of the grass 3 times, took him almost 10 min to calm down. I thought for sure I would loose him on the grass, or bend the hook (using cheapy jigheads). But I played it cool, let him drag me around and finally landed him in knee deep water. I made a gametime decision to add a 20# leader to my 10lb mono. Glad I did. He went 29" and was revived and relased to fight again. Caught some trout too. Slick as glass and no boats in sight. First trip of the season. I’m hooked again.
good job man. I know that feeling when they get deep in the grass.
ha, now that is a good eye for beer! Well done sir. Gold top with a hint of blue. I guess it could have been a busch heavy, but miller is indeed my watered down American lager of choice. Otherwise, I’m a craft brew drinker all the way.
