We left Edisto Marina ~4:30 Sunday morning, put lines out inside the Sow Pen and went between the Deli and R8. Our fish were shallow, and the first couple of hours were the best part of the day. But we finished up with 8 pretty good dolphin up to ~35#, and threw back 1 slinger and 3 'cudas. ’ no weedlines, but there was a good break.
It seemed there were a lot of sharks around…we saw a couple of hammerheads, and heard about other boats losing fish to sharks? There were also some large fish busting the surface a distance from us…might have been tuna or ??? In fact there was one porpoise that made several vertical jumps nearby, it came well out of the water…maybe it’s part of their mating ritual, as another porpoise looked on??? I have been doing this for 30 years, but never cease to be amazed at what you can see in the blue water.
There are not many weekend days when the water is that smooth, and it was good to make the first trip offshore for this season.
