Nice catch. Keep it up, ignore the jealous ones here on this site. They probably could not catch catch a fish if you hooked it for them and handed them the rod.
It’s people like this that deplete our fishing population. Im sure your gonna eat all that…Are 3/4 of the mahi over 6 lbs?? Truly sad. The worast part is you probably do it again next week…truly sad.

So what is your Avatar… A gay vegitarian terorist?
Dude this is a fishing site. Sometimes people catch big fish. Sometimes people catch little fish. Sometimes people like to eat what they catch.

Very nice haul Maz. Seeing as how we were skunked on the 23rd (I mean left 'em out there so Maz could fill up his fish box). That catch isn’t so bad at all. Last I heard there kt-puss, dolphin re-populate so fast, they are one of few that are not and probably never will be endangered. What’s your point?
Im sure thats was peoples attitudes about Swordfish, Bluefin, and grouper, and, etc… etc… etc…and now look where we are. You can’t pick up a sportfishing magazine without reading one article about the declining population of our fisheries. But ■■■■■ it, lets kill em all!!
“If you can’t stand behind our soldiers, then try standing in front of them”
I definately have no desire to clean or kill that many dolphin myself, but have no desire to bash anyone else for doing so either. Especially early in the year like it is. Nice catch guys, After another trip or two like that look into maybe jumping on board with the dolphin tagging program and give just a little back to research with the lil fish. Glad the bite is finally kicking in, be out there myself soon hopefully!
Ktpu - obviously you belive the flawed science that the tree huggers have used to falsely claim that all manner of fish are endangered. A case in point is swordfish. A little over 10 years ago a very flawed and poorly conducted survey suggested that swordfish stocks were near extinction. The public reacted, and stopped purchasing swords. Therefore - the fishermen slowed supply to meet demand - and the enviro groups pointed to the lower landing numbers as proof. Since it has been discovered that sword populations are very healthy - and in fact - there is a fleet of sword boats on the east coast that are very successfull and profitable. However - the enviro groups will never admit to an error. Another case in this point is vermillion snapper. They are like the cockroaches of the ocean. They occur from 80’ to god knows how deep - taking up a HUGE part of the biomass. Yet the SAFMC found a way to minipulate the science and has declared this species as over fished. Mahi are a world wide commidity. What happens off the East coast is a drop in the bucket. These fish are in a constant state of reproduction and there are no indications that the small portion of the biomass that we humans utilize has any meaningful effect on the mahi population.
Gullible people like you that do not research and just belive the fodder you read are exactly what the enviro groups target.
Nice haul Offshore Office. How deep where you catching the fin’s? We fished Thursday from 150 to 500’ and only caught 1.

Sounds like ya’ll had a day about like ours GuyA. At least you got one in the boat. Might should have done like we did and look for the banana. Figured there had to be one on the boat somewhere. That was the first time I’ve been offshore and not brought back at least one fish.
I see a lot of misinformation both explicitly and implicitly here or at least apparently supporting people’s opinions.
I think some facts need to be pointed out so that the spun up cherry picked bits of info put out by crisis mongers and a crisis driven government don’t rule the day here.
Someone mentioned grouper and snapper being posted here and something about overfished or overfishing.
What can you do? Post how many you can actually catch if you have a clue as to how to catch them or post nothing so it looks like there’s nothing out there?
The data that says that grouper or snapper are overfished also said that in a single year, over 90% of the red snapper in the entire south atlantic region (total number supposedly in the ocean) were actually harvested by recreational fishermen. So if we go by their stupid release mortality rate for recreationally caught and released red snapper of 40% also, we surely should have single-handedly caught every last stinking red snapper in the whole region. Good thing they can SWIM UP HERE FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE I GUESS.
Also, were you aware of the very low standard required of data to support a conclusion of “overfished” or “overfishing?”
Were you aware that only 20-25% of all U.S. species that have “adequate” stock assessments have been deemed overfished or undergoing overfishing by the government EVEN WITH such a ridiculously low standard for data quality?
Were you aware that the MRFSS recreational data collection system was deemed fatally flawed by Congress in 2006 and that it was MANDATED BY LAW to be replaced by a new system by Jan. 2009, but this has NOT been done to this very date. The MRFSS data continues to be used to shut down RECREATIONAL fishing opportunities, however… as quickly as possible I might add… because the director of NOAA believes that recreational fishermen are doing as much harm to the resources as commercial guys were 20 years ago- despite a truckload of evidence to the contrary.
Team Aggressor was famous for the big kill and post, look where they are now.First to worst
Really, once you fillet those slingers, cut out the bloodline, you have a piece that you could read the newspaper thru. The perfect size for slipping thru the grill, and burning to a crisp.
Nice going on the fancy feast.
“WOO HOO…here’s what happened when they decided to cut loose”
So all the dolphin they tagged for Don Hammond didn’t matter…
And it’s the captain and crew to be blamed for business and nobody else?

Crisis sells memberships to organizations. Crisis lets government grow. Crisis creates controversy and strife that can sell magazines.
There’s another side to the story.
If you care to spend as much time on the other side of the story as you obviously have on the side special interests have wanted you to focus on, then let me know. There are some compelling numbers and facts from just a few fisheries that you otherwise might believe are simply on the verge of extinction.
Somehow, that other side never hits the paper or the headlines… When will people care enough about what’s going on to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?
Aside from all that, I will tell you what I tell people who are convinced in their minds that something like red snapper is actually fished down to 3% of what they ought to be (for example).
I ask them, “Have you ever fished for red snapper?”
Answer: NO
I ask them, “Have you ever caught a red snapper?”
Answer: NO
Now… how many of you folks who actually fish for and catch dolphin are going to come on here and say there is a problem with our dolphin? So why are you bashing a guy who caught 33 with 5 people on the bote?
I definately have no desire to clean or kill that many dolphin myself, but have no desire to bash anyone else for doing so either. Especially early in the year like it is. Even more of the other side^
Shame we have to be so strongly opposed to certain opinions, but you’ve got to understand where we’re coming from. If crisis mongers and growing government feeds you 30 percent of the truth, and you start bashing people among us because of it- then we’re going to take our frustrations out on you to some extent for falling directly in line with what the crisis mongers and govern
You have to be a moron to compare dolphin populations to grouper, snapper, or swordfish. Can he tell me a little about the growth and reproduction rates of dolphin?

Actually, it’s a pretty valid comparison.
The essential habitat, a.k.a. future MPA/closed area, for dolphin has already been mapped out by SAFMC.
If they use a model and magically created bogus data to come up with a historical stock level like they did for red snapper, then they most certainly can suddenly proclaim that only 3% that were out there in 1945 are out there in 2010- and THEY WILL SHUT DOWN TROLLING… How? You simply find one study out of 30 that says the release mortality for dolphin is so excessive that even when you prohibit harvest you’re still overfishing.
Snapper = dolphin = white marlin = catfish = American shad = striped bass
AN EXTREMELY VALID POINT when someone says that putting 33 in the box is “overfishing.”
Proves just how ridiculous things have gotten when people actually believe that without any scientific basis or detailed knowledge of this guy’s fishing activities or the dolphin population’s health.
Don’t get me wrong, if we all kept 33 each time, we’d be talking about a different story. But the fact is that we all CAN’T do that. Catching them isn’t rocket science, but I submit that if we all were good enough to catch 33 from our small boats each day, then there’d have to be something crazy going on like a closure of them for a year so that the next year there’d be an explosion in population. And guess how tiny they’d all be then?
Go blow KTP! How many people can get offshore, and catch fish when they get there? If I go two or three times a year, and catch once or twice, I might have four or five dinners. Any yes, we do share with friends and family jerk-off. And if frozen properly, mahi lasts 6 months easy, I just don’t wait that long to eat it. There is no mass fish kill going on here. Go ahead and keep reading the liberal reports about the lack of fish, no grouper, no snapper, PROPAGANDA I say! I will post the pictures of the 5, 10, 20 dead cobia I catch if I’m so lucky. If you go to the store and buy it, it’s still dead!
ktpusateri, you practice catch and release, I’ll prctice catch and eat. Peace!
I will practice catch and release, and more importantly constraint…Just because I want future generatins to enjoy this sport, doesn’t make me a liberal. I am a Republican, and as conservative as they come…ask those that know me. However, I can open my eyes and see whats happening to the planet, and they very animals we kill off every year, day by day, even in our fisheries…it attitudes like some of you here, the ignorance, and lack of education that destroys the very things we need to survive on…but like I said, keep on keepin on, someday your actions will bite us all in the ass somehow
