Had a great day on the water with Realfish01, Jimmy, Brandon, and Mike. We started trolling before sun up on the ledge and worked our way straight out. With no luck on the wahoo we pulled everything in and ran to ~500 and trolled some scattered weeds and only picked up a few dolphin. Capt Eric made the very wise call to head out deeper despite the water not looking any better and there being no real temp break. (~74 to 76.) We found a stout weed line in ~1500 and trolled it and steadily picked at the dolphin with several multiple hookups and one quad. It was also fun watching Eric and Jimmy catch fish from under mats with metal jigs on spinners from the bow. It looked like they were bass fishing in ~1500. The deeper we went the better the seas were and it was almost flat towards ~1600. Saw a big shark and big sail but neither were hungry.
On the way in we saw some feeding birds and trolled over them in 320’ and managed 4 skipjack tuna and kept the 3 smallest.
We did some scouting for next weeks grouper/dive season and dropped baits and a camera in 100’ and again in 60’. Not much going on and the viz wasn’t great despite warm blue water on the top.

I found a neat trick. If we put the dolphin in the box green and closed the lid and then opened it a minute later they would turn blue to try and match the sky.

Laid out in ~1500

a man can fish for his entire life, 'fore he realizes its not the fish he has pursued!!!
Those pictures are great. Love the colors. Congrats on a great day.

Agreed… Love the blue. Great job.
Any man that doesn’t know how to catch a fish, shouldn’t disgrace a fish, by catching it.
Weak underwater footage, but it shows the visibility looks good for diving next weekend and the black sea bass population is thriving.

Nice catch. And nice video. Don’t go telling people your secret spot to find the endangered BSB.

Is your camera hard wired into your electronics or are you blind filming?
He was blind dropping a gopro on a 4lb lead weight with a custom mount. We do also use a black and white camera that does have a live feed but it can’t record. I have used it to watch fish hit my rigs and set the hook. LIVE ACTION!

Those were not BSBs. They are near extinction. No way we have that many off our coast.
Must be some mutant fish created by the human carbon foot print
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
