4.3 GI Volvo Penta - Ignition Module Removal

I know most here have ouboards but on this bote I have the above mentioned engine.

Bottom line - it is not getting any spark - It had a back or border line bad ignition coil, have installed new plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor - the pickup coiled checked out and the book tell sme the ignition module has two failure modes - no spark or no spark advance - and it says if all other test fails to replace this module.

It looks to me you can remove two small screws to get it remvoved but the book tells me to remvove the entire distributor - if at all possible I want to avoid doing this as it may require engine removal due to lack of clearance between the fiberglass and the engine - not sure how long the shaft is - if less than 10" it may work.

Anyhow if someone has any tips they will be greatly appreciated.

I also cranked the engine to make sure the rotor would turn and I do have 12v to the ignition coil so I feel I have found the problem.

Thanks and no haters please on my setup. It is my wife’s ski machine.

if itst the delco est type distributor tehn all you have to do is remove the two screws and unplug the two wire harness. If you are replaceing the pick up, you will have to remove the distributor
