started out thinking i was going to stay in jakes and stay out of the wind but i was only catching 12 to 14" fish, felt like the wind layed down so went out on the big pool and got the @#it beat out of me, but fished for 10min and caught 6 fish all 18-20" couldn’t stand it no more and headed for yacht cove, couldn’t find a fish in there for 45min so downed some high life and said i had to go back out on the gulf of murry. bite was no stop. stopped counting after 25 ended up with 2 keeperes biggest 25 other was 21 thing about it was the 21 weighted at least 4lbs. fat thing. left them biting… all fish caught pulling herring on so called downrods/trolling rods. and against popular belief all fish were caught with a 2-stroke running at all times and no lines were farther than 35’ from the back of the boat. if it is as nice as it is supposed to be tomorrow you guys should wear them out while i am “forced” to see hootie and the ballet…lol…tight lines to all.
chip,
Try the planers when the wind is not so bad. They don’t work well in wind. were you running them with no weight. If you got the ones I think you got they work best with freelines.
yea i was running them with weight…lol…first time in the water i sank the darn things, then switched weight and got them running ok but wouldn’t run out wide, and the wind factor did come in my head, so i may give them a chance. let me go edit the post…lol…tom check your messages
