Because I did not call cutmullet until I was at the launch, I failed to realize where he was heading, thus we fished vastly different areas. I did catch a couple fish at least.
While trolling to the starting spot I managed to pick up a very nice red (30" and fat) on my super-dooper top secret bait (just don’t look too hard at the pics and yeah, the date stamp needs to be reset on the camera)… I got pulled around a bit and the fish barely made it in the net.
Same fish, different look.
Set up at the point and caught this little cat.
Fished much more, got one nice hook-up that gave me a 5 minute ride up and down the creek. I was able to flawlessly perform the yak-side release (well actually about 10 ft from the yak). Never did get a good look at it, but I am guessing a red a lot like the first one. The tip of the circle hook got bent out.
Nice day, a few gators, lots of gnats (but not biting too badly).
That big boy made it all worth it… good job man.
Last Monday I hooked a 15~lb. catfish on a gulp near marker 89 (I hate those slimmy fish).
Mud tore em’ up today; I got 3 trout, 1 flounder from 15-18", all on DOA’s.
Ohhh yea… did I mention that a bird dropped a gift on him… sitting not 10ft from me:smiley: Made it all worth it!
It would have been to get together to fish, but I still had a good time. I may have had a psychological problem fishing where you went though, since it is only about 1/2 mile from where I work (and am sitting now).
Too bad for Mud, it wasn’t a pelican, or other large bird I hope?
