4/9/11 380 Hole

It was the maiden voyage of the new boat. Headed towards the 380 Hole and after a rough ride out, found some 76 degree water and put the lines in. Trolled for a couple hours with absolutely nothing when both starboard outriggers go off one after the other. Quickly brought two dolphin to the boat. Put the lines back out and had two more dolphin right away - not much size to any of them but at least it’s meat in the freezer. Ended the day early when the clouds started rolling in and the sea turned for the worse. It was a rough ride back in with 5-6 foot rollers and southwest winds that made the spray terrible. Despite all that, the boat performed well and I can’t wait to get back out there. All in all a pretty good trip even though we burned through 130 gallons of gas for 4 small fish.

Well you turned a report an a venture to start the saeson!

Thanks and tight lines!

good luck this year!

Nice report. I was on my buddies maiden voyage on his new boat a few weeks ago out of OIB and we hit some big waves on the way back, makes things kinda interesting for the first trip in a new boat. Congrats on the catch.

Yes it did get interesting on the way in but I was really impressed with how the Scout handled the conditions. Not once was I ever concerned. If I was in my previous boat (22’ Key West) it could’ve gotten scary real quick.
