Casper, Brant, Cory, Kevin and myself left out of Patriot’s Point a little late Friday morning for the first run of the season. Kevin had limited offshore experience and Cory has never been on the salt. We found a stacked up and sloppy ocean with a long ride ahead of us. We were able to run a decent speed but took a beating. Ran out towards 380 hole and dropped lines in at the ledge. Got a triple of gaffers on as soon as the lines went in the water. Picked up two more before we headed South toward 226 area (Good Start). Saw a nice color change but could not tell temps due to a transducer problem (Bad). Just a few minutes along the color change and a nice sail came up to take a look at the bad arse dredge that Jeremy at B&B made. He switched to the flat line and it was game on. I was closest to the rod and thumbed it for what seemed like an eternity. Cory, the avid Bass fisherman from Lincolnton, GA, was up and jumped on the rod. She tailed walked two or three times and gave a nice show on a 30 (Very Good!). Cory did a great job and the fish came in maybe a little too quick. She was not happy and between the rough seas and the commotion, Casper took a bill shot directly in his tricept (Really Bad!). Casper is bleeding like a stuck pig and I went over to help. Release the sail in great condition. Casper was not soo great. His arm looked terrible. Storm clouds were bearing down on us and we decided it was time to go home. We made decent time until we lost a motor about 30 miles out (Just Plain UGLY!) Limped back in on one motor. We arrived batterd and bruised to a few worried people at the dock just before 8:00. Congrats to Mr. BASSMAN Cory on his first sail!!!
Hard tellin’ not knowin’
OUCH!
Freshwater is for drinking.
1 /1 on Billfish on the first trip, can’t go wrong with that
A bill to the arm that made it bleed. That’s nasty for sure!!
Umm, you gonna eat that?©

Yeah, quite the day. I always wondered what it would be like to come in on one motor and I hope to never do it again. We could not plane the boat out due to the seas and the cavitation.
I told Casper that he will soon have the coolest scar ever. That’s one to show the kids one day. It went in about an inch and was about as big around as a nickle. Nasty. He had it cleaned out and is on a dose of anitbiotics for good measure.
Jeremy’s dredge has pulled up a bill on every trip that boat has made. It’s just so dang sexy!
Hard tellin’ not knowin’
danng! Glad everyone is OK, havn’t heard from casper in a minute…glad everyone’s well.

We came in from the 226 hole on one last week. Put people, fish, coolers, ice, and gear on the front of the boat to get out of the hole and once we got up made 30-35 mph. Was no fun but thankfully made it home. Glad that yall made it home as well.
Potmouse is the best fisherman ever. Ask him, he will tell you.

Yeah, I took my fat butt upfront and got it to plane but the prop would cavitate very bad in the rough seas. I have heard that some carry spare props with more bite for coming in on one motor. We will be looking into that… -Eric
