5/12/14 10 mi past the Deli, classic weed line

NOAA showed nice temp break past the Deli. Me an my two boys (9 and 12 years old) left the dock at 3 am, motored about 10 miles past the Deli and put lines in at 6:30. Nothing until 8:30 when we found the promised temperature break and weed line at about 300 ft. Got a strike and pulled up a cedar plug with only a small bonita head attached. Would love to know what ate the bonita! After that it was non-stop Mahi catching. Quit at 10:45 as one of my boys was seasick and we had more than we knew what do to with. We Finished with 6 Mahi in the 20-33 lb range and landed all we hooked. Most hit on either cedar plugs or Williamson rubber ballyhoo, and only one on a real ballyhoo.

I would like to know more about the rubber ballyhoo. I have some in my tackle bag but have never used them. Which color do you use, skirted, and what position are you dragging them from???
