5/14 Small Boat Dolphin

Two guys in a 21’ bay boat, left wapoo cut at 5:45, worked out SSE, could only make about 20 mph, to about 110’ started trolling just after 8:00, first noise from the reels before we got all line out, but no hook-up. First slinger in the box before 9:00. Boatside release on a 8-10# king, lost a nice dolphin due to outrigger problem. Worked SSE to about 135’ finally put another slinger in box around 11:00, starting think it was a going to be a marginal day at best. Started to work in a little, getting close to deadline for getting started back in. Picked up 5 more (3 ligit gaffers 12-15#) in the last 30 - 45 minutes working a patch of weeds with birds. Three passes, three doubles, 5 boated, one lost. Never saw 70 degree water, 67.4 - 69.2. Back in at 30 - 34 mph, at the boat ramp at 2:45.
no preference on color noted.

Totals:

7 dolphin between 8 - 15#
one pack of bally hoo
35 gals of gas
18 corn, barley, and hops sodas

Good work and thanks for the report! With fuel prices jumping a quarter each week, my guess is there may be more 4-stroked 20-something footers going out there.

I have a Yamaha 115 4strk and go to ~125-130ft and usually burn 20-23gal.I am running the "old" model '03 SV2100 which is a good bit lighter.Sure glad we can still afford to go!
