Tried to leave early but after meeting at the boat at 3:30am in the middle of a huge storm, we decided to wait it out and left by 5am. We still were dodging thunderheads and getting rained on pretty hard in the dark but it was worth it. Just like the other week, we trolled a nice weed line in 1100’ and deeper. We found several HUGE mats that had absolutely nothing under them. Most of our fish were caught in singles but we kept at it and filled the box but left enough room for diving fish.
We dropped in on a nice ledge in 100’ and Eric quickly sent up a very nice lobster and 20lb hog fish. For the next dive we moved down the ledge and I tagged a nice gag before even hitting the reef. I then worked the reef and found 3 lobster to compete the dive. I’m guessing the big grouper were still in shallow like they were last week. I think visibility was ~45’ but it was getting dark by the time I did my dive and so it was hard to judge. I could have gotten more lobster but it was getting really dark on the reef.
Good looking day! Nice hogzilla Eric! Jordan how was the reg?

Nice bull! That’s a (**() big hog as well
My advice is my opinion only. I may have gotten that opinion from something I read while sitting on the toilet. Please keep that in mind when reading my posts, the information may not be correct.
Thanks to everyone for allowing me to tag a long the other day. It was the most enjoyable groups I’ve ever fished with, not to mention the catching wasn’t too bad either,. As you can tell by the inexperienced pic, I don’t get to many photo ops with Charleston lobsters. And, it’s exciting to watch the dives, but still think ya’ll are crazy going down there. Thanks again and again and again for the trip!

Hog, lobster, grouper and mahi.
We had a day two years ago with a hog, lobster, grouper, wahoo, and dolphin. Needed that blackfin to complete the meat fish grand slam.
That is on my bucket list for sure.
Man that ocean looks nice… sorry we missed it.

Jordan;
How many slippers this trip??? I still need to get a new “stuff bag”, after we filled the previous one beyond capacity, last summer…

Only a half dozen or so slippers. I could have found more but the sun set during my dive and it was really dark at 105’. I need to get a good bright canister light.

That’s a good haul. Little buggers are usually hard to find, even with good light!
A night dive at 27 miles out of Charleston is spooky, esp when you have to use your computer backlight to see your own hand in front of your face!!! Of course, the sharks don’t really care about the dark, either! Not like a simple night dive off the FL coast, where you can hunt by moonlight!

I can’t seem to get the pictures opened. I heard you all slammed them, wish I could have cleared my schedule.
