5/17 w/ pic

Put in at dead low, with plans to fish all the way up the flood. Low tide action was on, w/ surprisingly clear water and cooperative fish especially for midday. Boated and released three nice overslot fish, and had one break me off on a post. All caught on 2" gulp crabs rigged weedless on a circle. Several more spooks. Had about 12-15 good shots, still gettin all the Columbia rust off. Saw some bonnets crusin super shallow, wish I had my shark rig w/ me. Also saw a loggerhead back in the shallows. Great weather.

But not a single tail once the water came up. I guess the water was moving too fast across the flat. By evening the south wind had picked up a good bit. Still waiting on my first good tailing session of the season.

First fish of the day.

Nice looking red. I saw a few tailing on Sunday (first of the year for me) but couldn’t get close enough to get em in the yak. There’s always next weekend. :sunglasses:

Nice fish!

Curious… how do you rig a weedless circle hook for the peeler crabs?
