5/19 Edisto Banks ++

Left dock at 3 AM, forecast was spot on so hooked a left out of Port Royal in quartering seas towards EB. Started high speed trolling at the banks and kept on heading deeper looking for something fishy. Saw another boat fishing a color change at about 1600 ft, the offshore side of a finger. I like to see weeds and flyers but decided to give it a shot and put out a spread. Hooked up about 10 minutes later, hooked up another, and then a double knock down + jigged for a third. Quiet after that, headed in, spotted a big sail, trolled for it and nothing, tried a weed line in a beautiful blue flat calm at about 140 ft and hooked up one more. Went 6 for 6 on the day thanks to a great crew, but for sure we worked for them, burned 280 gallons of fuel, a record for my boat. Weather was great, wind laid down at about 8 AM and stayed calm all day.

Sounds like a good day. That fuel burn is really high it sounds like. I head in and out at 28-30knots and That’s almost the same amount I burn ALL day off shore in a 52’ boat with a generator pushing 3 air-conditioning units, freezers and an ice maker the whole time. I’m feeling much better about the my fuel bills now lol.

You must have had it tacked out for some time to burn gas like that! Makes for expensive meat!
