This might be Optiker’s first offshore report?!

Went offshore with our friend Jim on his 31 Grady. My younger son Ian came along for his first trip to the blue water.

We fished Edisto Banks around the ledge and picked at a few dolphin and a couple cudas. Never found the schooled up dolphin but still had a great day. Saw a marlin free jump, some porpoise and my favorites: flying fish.

Ian’s first fish was a pretty good one: 18 lber. Pictured here with boat Captain Jim. Ralph is an encyclopedia of offshore knowledge and he had his hands full trying to teach a boat full of rookies. I was honored to gaff Ian’s fish - Ralph made it easy for me to get a perfect shot right in the gill plate.

Thanks for the report. Glad you had a good day. We’re heading out tomorrow.

Hey, you got out AND caught fish. I had never been offshore in my whole life until just a couple of years ago. I went out once with a friend’s friend and had a blast and have since been out with DGYF34 a few times and every trip has been awesome. I know that offshore fishing is expensive and I have found it takes work to catch fish but, I have thoroughly enjoyed every trip. Just being out there is a gift, catching fish is a bonus. Being on the water is a tonic for me.

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?

Good stuff as usual Op. Good lookin’ kid, too. Go 'Cocks!
