Ran out to bottom bump with a 4 man crew. Was covered up with bsb’s almost all day. Even caught bsb’s on our grouper rigs with live baits. Didn’t catch one grouper all day. The beeliners were there but very hard to catch through all the bsb. In desperation we checked out a set of my numbers in 85’ and finally hit jackpot! Very few bsb’s. Caught the rest of our beeliner limit, some big triggers, stinky pinkies, a few white grunts, and one ARS around 25 lbs. The last stop saved the day. Ocean was flat all day. Wind picked up a little and the last 10 miles of the ride in was snotty.
I know right? Those endangered bsb are everywhere! We stopped off to fish some bottom numbers on the way in on Saturday from trolling.
We were pulling up three bsb at a time in the 3 to 6 pound range. I have never seen so many big ones each time we pulled our lines. I am so glad (not) that they want to change the limits much less close the seasons on all these fish.
The people who set forth these rules are morans. They need to get out and try fishing for a change. What they see may even surprise them. What little they know.
Who better to conduct surveys with, than no other than the fishermen themselves.
I hate it! We were talking yesterday while fishing about the white grunts. We really only catch them hit and miss but they are not endangered? We couldn’t get away from the gorilla bsb. We caught some big ones too, almost all of them were bigger than normal except for the little ones we caught on Sabiki’s. WTF!!!
