Put in at Dreher Island both days.

Wed:

At first spot in Crystal lake the stripers were stacked up in about 45’. Action for the first 2 hour was fast & most were 21" to 26". We caught around 24 in the first 2 hours. Then the bite stopped. Tried several other spots with little luck.

Thurs morning:

Went back the same spot & the action started out just like yesterday. Did catch a few more today on free lines. Moved down the lake toward the golf course & caught a few more & one 28".

Herring were the hot bait.

All were released to fight another day.

Thanks for the report. I live in Crystal Lake, but have not fished Murray for at least 2 weeks. I would have thought the fish had moved down the lake.

I hope to get out next week.

I’ve never put in at Dreher before. Is there a place near there that sells herring?
And how early can you get into Dreher?

George Preston sells herring at his bait shop on Macedonia Church Rd., about 6 miles from Dreher Island. He is at the Dreher Island ramp, most weekends. But call him first at 803-873-3258.

They no longer lock the gate at Dreher Island State Park.
