5/30/10 report

Loaded the boat for a day of bottom fishing just offshore of McClellanville. We put in at the Ferry in Georgetown and took the ICW down. It was a beautiful day at the 6CR. We stuck the anchor right in the middle of the wreck and proceeded to wear out the Knot head cbass up to 4 lbs I would guess. We ended up having to cut the anchor line and driffted the wreck catching a few more. We didnt find any jelly balls on the way out but used small slivers of squid to catch around 8 small spades. We saw hundreds of spades but the big ones wouldn’t take the squid. The wreck was alive with tons of Spanish, Turtles, and sharks. We used peanut hadens and squid. Great day up until we broke the axle about a mile up the road after taking the boats out, at least it was after the fishing! Thanks to SeaTow roadside membership it only cost me $25 to tow the boat to Andrews. Ended up with 20 Cbass, 8 spades, and 10 ringtails (sailers choice).

Sounds like a good day.Try anchoring up current/wind with a danforth anchor and chain. You don’t damage the reef, spook the large fish, and you get your anchor back.
