Left Remley’s at 6:30 and made bait around the Morris island lighthouse. Really nice menhaden. After the last few weeks of small stuff I was glad to finally have some pogies you can pull behind the boat.
Made our way to a popular spot off of Folly and went 4 for 6 on kings in about one hour. Nothing too great. The biggest might have gone 23 or so. Had one king sky on the short line. Came out of the water at least 10 feet.
Lots of weeds in 57 feet.
Had to head back almost as soon as we started so we left them biting. Didn’t see any cobia.

Great report on fish and bait, 23 not bad for first trip out.

Holy crap, a king mackerel report! Grey, thanks for the report and great job on the kings.

Ill add… Tried the tips of the jetties and shipping channel this past Sunday, slow trolling pogys. No love but some big sharks. Saw what looked like a king jump about 150 yards away but could not be for certain. Spanish were busting everywhere, they wanted nothing to do with gotchas or spoons, only thing that worked was pitching a menhaden right into the middle when they came to the surface.

Nice Report, We fished out of Murrells Inlet at the Jetties, Belkie & MB Rock w\ no luck. Nice Menhaden all over the beach but we checked 5 bait balls nothing but sharks.

Thanks for the report! I wanted to get out there last weekend

Thanks for the report, glad to hear the pogies have some size finally. The water temps are getting right and have heard some decent reports from the jetties around the Georgetown.Hoping to try it this weekend myself.

Went to 4ki on Saturday searching for spades, couldn’t find any jelly balls so we just anchored up and dropped squid. Lead hit the bottom and something took it in about 3 seconds. Figured it was a bsb and pulled it up about 5 feet before it knew it was hooked. 20 minutes and 6 runs later off a Sienna 4000 a 3.5 - 4 foot king came up beside the boat. Thought about keeping him for my buddy’s Japanese grandma who loves the things but didn’t have the gaff so we cut the line and let him go. Got him right in the corner of the mouth with a 2/0 circle hook on 30 lb mono.Pretty fun and extremely random.

I’d have tailed that fish

Tailing kings is fun. I successfully tailed one after it popped the line. Basically jumped in after it and only my feet were left in the boat. Wish I had it on video, we laugh about it to this day.

I mentioned tailing but the other guy wasn’t in the mood I guess. I wasn’t going to eat it so I didn’t put up much of an argument.
