What a great day on the water. Ride out was a little slower than usual with the slop, but once we got to 1500’ and lines were in the water we had a billfish playing with the teaser 5 minutes later. He didn’t seem interested in the Bart’s and ran off. Ended up with two slingers by 9:30am on Bart’s. Picked up and ran a little south and threw out half barts/half ballyhoo. Couldn’t find a weed line anywhere probably due to the weather a few days prior. Ended up with 2 gaffers on the ballyhoo by 12 so ditched Bart’s for the rest of the afternoon. Ended up with 5 gaffers and 3 slingers, all fish caught in 1200+. Had what was probably a wahoo almost spool the 25 before breaking off and if weren’t for a slight reel malfunction may have had 6 gaffers. All in all a pretty good day. Saw a few more collections of weed lines around 180ft. Ride in at 45mph makes things much easier.
