Set out late at 6:00 AM with the 100 boat fleet clearin the jetties at sun rise.
Fished rips and weed lines between 700 and 1300 feet about the 400 line.
Came back in to Edisto banks and trolled a nice rip and weedline right on the bank.
Thought there might have been black fin there but didn’t hook up.
Dropped some jigs and picked up a token scamp.
Great day and first time offshore for our lady angler that landed the largest bull dolphin and the scamp. Video to come.
18 dolphin, jumped 1 blue marlin, 1 scamp
Good report but more like 20 dolphin plus the obligatory AJ for our west coast friend that was sure that they would taste like yellowtail. He sent me a text saying it was one of the grossest things he’s ever seen. Lost a few (daymaker) nice fish to gaff practice but that’s what dolphin are for.
The blue in 700 was awesome but unexpected and quickly burned the gear. A fun surprise while dolphin fishing. Good job Nick for being on it so fast and getting the hook set.
I didn’t bring my camera so we may have to wait for cell phone pictures to trickle in.

Forgot to add, fish ate GREEN 90% of the time. That won’t really help anyone fishing this week but still interesting to note that they were so keyed in on that color.

Angler’s Dream
Fish ate fresh ballyhoo 100% of the time brought up from Keys Friday that we picked up from Atlantic Game and Tackle.
Bring some panko crumbs and egg whites and I’d be all over those baits. I bet they taste like small whiting.
