Got the invite to fish late Sunday. Having just come out of my post boat sale depression I was ready to go. Met at the dock at a cool 3:30, no wind, buoy saying 14 seconds, yep it’s on now. After some initial hellos with the crew we quickly discover we have an injured member and a no show. So it will be a 3 man crew? Yep that will do.
Rode out on a slick Harbor with no tankers to boot. Cleared the rocks and it was not exactly 14 seconds. Little bumpy ride out to 150 where we encountered some rain showers. Always nice to get a free boat rinse. And a small bonus…a rainbow. You know there is a pot of something out there.
We pull the plastics high speed style across the ledge…nothing. No fliers, No weeds, No hits, No nothing. We pull up and run out deeper. The ocean in this area looked like post-thanksgiving day dinner dish water and there was no life anywhere. So we kept running. Got out to about 500 and life starts to happen we see fliers and color…deploy the spread and battle speed.
We picked up a slinger and circled around and then pressed out some more and then in about 800 foot we see it. The holy grail of Mahi fishing…the weed line. And it’s a long one. It’s not super organized but it’s there with some large mats along the way.
From that point on it’s on. Fish after fish. Double, Triple, four, five, six?. We did it all. We were working like a well-oiled machine. No autopilot so there were times the captain left the wheel, dragged a fish to the boat, slung him in and yelled watch your feet and got back on the wheel.
After a while it all calmed down. We had about 15 minutes of trolling with no knockdowns. Hmmm let’s have some tunes. We get halfway through I can’t drive 55 then it hits…Long Rigger goes…miss…Short goes…miss…flat line goes…were hooked up! And for my wicked tuna fans it’s a screamer! Finally my prayers have been answered a 50+ pound Mahi. Or so I thought. 10 minutes later he breaks the s
VERY good report. Good pic on the sunrise and the rainbow too. Kinda day dreams are made of, congrats on the blue suit too!!!###
AND on a full moon, bad reports week, almost missed the video link, good, good

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.
