5/6

Out of Dewees early. Lines in around 7:45 beyond ledge in 280-300 first fish small dolphin in 350. Another dolphin about hour later. Nothing till lunch. Went out to 550-600ft nada. Went back in to 165 caught two more dolphin. Very slow day but better than work. Most boats same story. Did hear of a good report south. Very little life water 74.5. Hopefully it will pick up soon. Tight lines.

sounds like a good trip to get the kinks worked out. glad you made it back safe.

I would plan on having lines in well before 7:45 on the next trip in hopes of a stellar day. If you notice on some of these posts, most people are leaving the docks between 3 and 4 am this time of year. The best mahi bite reports iv seen are right of the bat early am. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks E. You ready for the next trip? I’ll give you a call. Ocean was perfect just not a great bite.

Thanks for the tip. This morning was super foggy so we needed to take it slow. Safety first on my boat.:wink: BTW I have cauught plenty of fish after 7;45.

My son called today when he cleared the jetties and asked me to come clean fish…he was pretty excited and said they had dolphin, wahoo and blackfin. I figured 15 or 20 fish if they needed help cleaning them. It was actually 2 slingers, 2 hoos (25 and 35) and a world class skip jack…Bud Light must have made it look like a blackfin to them. I think the Bud Light might have made them a little leary of cleaning them also.

reelly…

first time ever for fishing by radar.visibility yesterday was no more than 200 yds.all the way to the ledge.

It was a very weird ride out. At one point, it had to be no more than 50yds vis. You could see boat wake but no boats!

Thanks for the ride G. We fished as hard as you could but just one of those days. E, you know we have to call him Capt. G now on the boat. :sunglasses:

yeah thats what i hear. i’m looking forward to more fishing and less boat driving personally. hope to get down there soon.
