5/7/14 SW Banks to G-town hole

Left the dock at 430 with intentions of finding the temp break between sw banks and bubble rock, half way to the banks noticed my depth quit and temp readings were all over the place from 140 to -4, dropped lines at sw banks and messed with the sonar only to realize that somehow my transducer was gone! tried trolling towards bubble rock but it was no fun heading into the nasty waves out of the south so we set course for G-town hole, first lines went off at 745, double gaffers in the boat, 20 min later had the Chinese fire drill, a triple of really nice 40lb class bulls…lost all 3 at the boat…@#$#! one was hooked in the dorsal fin, he pulled that off soon as he seen the boat, one dove straight under the boat and before we could get the boat turned…snap! the third was completely my fault from not making sure my crimp was good at the hook. felt like kicking myself at that point but couldn’t let it dictate the rest of the day.

trolled north past the hole between the ledge and 600 line and found a large scattered weed line, started working it and managed 6 more gaffers. Had a mako cruise through the baits and seen a few large turtles. Fun was had by all despite the setbacks, now off to get the sonar back up and running for the next trip.
