" 5 and done"

Remember “5 and done” starts today on Murray.

Time to start fishing with 2 rods instead of 8.

I’ll probably still fish with at least six! But 2 sounded good.

If I’m alone, I’ll be one-polling it with live bait and perhaps work a spoon. With a boat full, I’ll deploy more gear. I’m looking forward to them starting the bubbles at Modoc on Clark’s Hill and running water heavy in the afternoons. That will not be for at least another month though.

Fog, Consider taking a perch spoon with you too. We put 30 in the boat on Monday in an hour. They were between 18’ and 22’ deep and very hungry.

During 5’n done I like to fish 14 rods so I can just leave the truck running and backed into the water at the ramp.

That may be what I was seeing on my depth finder last time out. I was thinking that it was just small rockfish, but I didn’t get any bites.

I wish I could catch them like that just once.

Fish will be schooling on the surface for the next 1.5 months. Having June included is the dumbest rule in the world. I wish someone would do an economic study on the impact this rule is having on Cola business.

Not sure about other bait shops but better bait sees a jump in sales starting in June. Not sure fish will school like they did last yr. Water temps are already higher than they were last yr. Last yr was a fluke…we are seeing more and more BIG fish each yr. I think the 5 and done is helping. Yes it helps we haven’t had a fish kill in awhile. But I think this is a good thing. Just my .02

In theory it should work.

Think about going tomorrow. Down rods? How deep?

What’s the 5 and done? WAY out of the loop and too lazy to search it. I did however have 4 plates made including 4 driftmasters already installed to put in the 4 rocket launchers on the gunwales so no hole drilling in the new boat. Just need 4 more driftmasters to put on the 2 plates without them now. Got this all done for $250!!! All I’m missing is the trolling motor. Ready for some anchor fishing!!

I don’t know. I’m sure there’s some good catching going on, but my favorite time to fish the Hill(lower lake) is July through September. If I were fishing it now, I’d be above the 378 bridge.

Florida boy 2, 5 and done is just what it says. When you catch your 5th striper of the day, regardless of size, you are done fishing for stripers until the next day, even if you release those 5 fish you are still done for the day. There is no size limit during 5 and done. The law is strictly enforced. I’m not sure what the fine is for violations and I don’t intend to find out. Probably similar to catching over the limit or keeping under sized stripers.

I am going with a buddy on June 18th. Lower Lake. So I hope it starts about 10 days early.

You can catch em there now. Try Keg Creek and GA Little River to the bridge. I’d look on 30-50 foot points and humps.
